Short answer - Yes, this is a novel designed to be fun for everybody. Specifics are below, but there are some minor spoilers in here...just so ya know   : )

Alright, specifics:

Language - basically no bad language, people in Verandale don't really cuss

Sexual content - there is romance and it is a coming-of-age story, but no sex

Violence - I tried hard to never have violence just for violence's sake, but Verandale is a fierce place (I mean the Cofs are trying to eat people and all!). My advice would be to read it with your elementary schooler, but middle grade and up should be just fine on their own.

Preachiness - Nope, just a crazy mix of fun and danger.
